Learning to make in the woods is one of the most rewarding things you can do, using axe, knife and chisel make yourself a beautiful, functional thing that will last you years. Below is a copy of the woodwork menu to whet your appetite!
Spatula carving - 2hrs £35 per person (Min. 2 people)
The 2 hour “have a go” session will cover the basic first steps of green woodwork, from using a Froe to cleave the fresh green wood, to shaping it with a drawknife and shave horse, and putting the finishing touches on to your work with a Swedish whittling knife. The finished result will give you many years of service and satisfaction in your kitchen.

Half day pole lathe turning - 4hrs £120 for 1 or 2 people
This half day introduction turning on a pole lathe 4 hr course the process of cleaving green wood and turning on a pole lathe. Choose from a variety of items such as a rolling pin, candlestick, rounders bat, gin muddler or garden dibber and learn to turn on the food powered pole lather and handle the cutting tools. Learning to make beautiful, functional objects with a few simple hand tools.

Spoon carving course - 10am - 4pm £200 per person or £240 for 2
On the spoon carving course you will cover the safe ways to carve with an axe and a knife, and learn the basics of spoon carving so that you are able to continue improving your skills on your own after you leave. Over the course of the day you are introduced to the different knife grips and cuts to use both the straight and curved spoon knife.

Table or frame stool making - 10am - 4pm £200 per person or £240 for 2
Three legged coffee table or stool. Through out this short course you'll be making the legs from a log of Ash, cut tenons and prepare the top surface of your table before fitting it all together. This course needs to be split over 2 days for components to dry. Choose between a round, square or triangular solid wooden top.

Baskets of ash splint - 6hrs over two days in 3 hr sessions £200 per person or £240 for 2
Come and learn to weave a beautiful tabletop basket from ash felled in our woods. Over two sessions you’ll be guided through the process of preparing the material, weaving and finishing, ending up with a beautiful basket to take home, a useful and elegant reminder of your stay in the woods and a little slice of it to keep forever.

Bowl carving - 10am - 4pm £200 per person or £240 for 2
On this one-day course you will go from a log of green wood to a beautiful, functional wooden bowl using an adze and a gouge to hollow the bowl, and an axe and drawknife to shape the outside surface. Explore traditional methods and tools that have been used for hundreds of years, and take home a lovely piece of woodenware for your home.
